By Andrew Mackinnon

Use the WordPress plug-in UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore in white-alliance.blog in order to back up white-alliance.blog.

The UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore WordPress plug-in can be located in the WordPress installation for white-alliance.blog under:

White Alliance / Dashboard / Settings / UpdraftPlus Backups

You must authenticate with DropBox.com in the Settings tab of UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore before backing up, otherwise the back-up process will likely return errors and not complete correctly.

Authentication with DropBox is achieved by:

1. logging in to DropBox.com in a browser tab

2. clicking on the link beginning with the words, “After you have saved your settings”, under the heading and subheading, “Dropbox” and “Authenticate with Dropbox:”, respectively, in the Settings tab of UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore

3. clicking on the rectangle containing the words, “Complete setup”, in the web page that appears as a result of clicking on the link in the previous step

In the Backup/Restore tab of UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore in the WordPress installation for white-alliance.blog, click on the button labelled “Backup Now”.

The five back-up files that the UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore backup process produces are:

> db.gz (Database)

> others.zip (Others)

> plugins.zip (Plugins)

> themes.zip (Themes)

> uploads.zip (Uploads)

Note that UpdraftPlus.Com (with the letter “C” in uppercase) is a folder that is installed in your DropBox account under the folder named “Apps” during the course of the authentication process above.

Once the five back-up files above have been sent to the UpdraftPlus.Com folder under the Apps folder in your DropBox account by UpdraftPlus Backup/Restore, select all of them and click on the button labelled “Download”, in order to download them as a file named “UpdraftPlus.Com.zip”.

Rename this file to:

This name shows the year, month and date, as well as the time in 24 hour format, which is the point in time at which this back-up was produced.

Save this file to your USB drive at:
